We will all come out of this having experienced trauma

Trauma is defined as the response to a deeply distressing or disturbing event that overwhelms an individual’s ability to cope, causes feelings of helplessness, diminishes their sense of self and their ability to feel the full range of emotions and experiences.

It stems from the real or perceived lack of choice, control and power.

Sound familiar?

Trauma, especially long-term trauma leaves a lasting impression on the mind, body, and brain. It’s not just an event in time but the more support and connection we have during the traumatic experience, the shorter the effects can last.

When we experience trauma, our fight, flight, or freeze response is triggered. We can see this happening in real time all around us today.

Here’s what I know. How we manage our minds through this time will determine how we come out of this. I know most of us are trying to be positive and look at the good and post our gratitudes and what we’re enjoying about the unexpected time on our hands. And this is amazing.

...But what about when you feel shame that you’re actually really tired of seeing the people you love so much, SO much…

...Or what about those of us who feel shame that we’re not doing or accomplishing more with all this time we have…

...Or those of us who are so defined by our work and what we “do” to stay busy that we feel lost and empty when we can’t do it…

...And those of us that feel guilty because this is really just an extended vacation for us and not a hardship at all…

...While some of us are doing everything we can to not be worried about how next months bills will be paid…

It really doesn’t matter what the details of your COVID quarantine experience might be. The reality is that by definition, we will all come out of this having experienced trauma.

As a trauma-informed yoga teacher, this is what I’m here for.

Yoga tools can help regulate your nervous system, change your mindset, help you find the choice and power that is yours and take control over your own life regardless of your circumstances.

This is what I do. I’m here to help. This is how I can serve others during this time.

I’m Open for Business.

I’m offering free Yoga and Wellness Sessions via Zoom. I have openings in my schedule for you. Please take me up on it. Even if you feel like you’re making it ok. It’s the “putting your oxygen mask on first” thing. Just because you can make it alone doesn’t mean you need to.

I’m here for you and I want to help. You can book your free session here.

We’ve got this.
